Tut, tut - unlike two of our founding nations, Canada has never had a state religion and thus no "Canadian Church of the Queen". In fact, some would argue that intolerant secularism is Canada's new state religion (http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2005/jul/05071505.html).

As for grovelling before the Queen, that's reserved for Victoria Day - a national holiday created for the sole purpose of enabling the populance to prepare their cottages for the coming summer.

Sorry but my Canadian lit is restricted to Mordecai Richler who always seemed wiser than most - and not a member of the Canadian Church of the Queen or Church of England Twice Removed or whatever. Is it true that Canadians must grovel before the Queen???

Judging by the Iowa results, it looks as if you south-of-the-49th-ers need to be re-reading Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaiden's Tale" in preparation of times to come. Better act soon while Canada maintains a fairly liberal immigration and refugee policy if you want to escape the UTSA (United Theocratic States of America).

Let's add ethanol support to the list of methods that candidates use to buy votes in Iowa. Ethanol is not a viable energy alternative, yet all the candidates have ethanol orgasms. If the first caucus is in New Mexico, I'd bet the politicians would be pledging to subsidize cactus juice.
